Reports stating that accused online fraudster Ramon Abbas, commonly known as Hushpuppi, laundered $400,000 in prison are false, according to American cybercrime specialist Gary Warner.
Warner is the Director of Research in Computer Forensics at the University of Alabama in the United States, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
On Wednesday, a fictitious court document detailing how Hushpuppi, a renowned Instagram personality, allegedly committed fraud and laundered almost $400,000 from prison appeared online.

Hushpuppi allegedly assisted in the acquisition and laundering of Economic Impact Payment debit cards obtained unlawfully from stolen data of US citizens and residents while in prison, according to the affidavit.
The paper was allegedly brought before the United States District Court of California by US prosecutors accusing Hushpuppi of defrauding a federal jail institution in the United States.
Warner revealed that the viral paper purportedly delivered by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) was a hoax in a tweet on Thursday.
He indicated that the paper was a modified version of an affidavit from June 2020, as well as a ruse to attract people to visit the fraudster EIP website mentioned in the document.

“People are asking me if it’s true that #Hushpuppi laundered $400,000 in #Stimulus cards while incarcerated,” he wrote.
“The document they show is an edit of a June 2020 Affidavit. The new version is fake, intended to get people to visit a scammer EIP website.”
