Prof. Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra State, has directed that no workers in the state obey the Monday sit-at-home directive because they are all expected to report to work.

On Mondays, the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) issue a sit-at-home order, which paralyzes economic activity in the state and other southeast states by shutting down civil servants, banks, markets, and other public locations.

The order, according to the group, is intended to draw the attention of the government to the unfairness of pursuing its leader, Nnamdi Kanu.

Soludo Gives Update On Discussion With IPOB Over Sit-at-home Order

Despite the fact that the Biafra group just stated that the sit-at-home order has been rescinded, the situation remains essentially unchanged, with reports of attacks on people and businesses that defy the edict.

However, Soludo stated in a statement on Friday that all workers in Anambra, including political office holders, must henceforth report to work or face serious sanctions.

Only individuals who have gained authorization to be absent from work, according to the Governor, are permitted to do so.

“As a result, absence from duty on Monday or any other official workday without clearance would be seen as significant misbehavior and will draw commensurate punishments,” says the Head of Service, Mr Theodora Igwegbe, in a statement headed “Attendance to work.”

For monitoring and compliance, the statement was copied to the deputy governor, Speaker of the House of Assembly, Chief of Staff, all commissioners, special advisers, permanent secretaries, and heads of ministerial departments.

Anaedoonline.ng recalls Charles Soludo during his inaugural speech after he was sworn in as the new governor of Anambra State, sent a message to the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, and its militia arm, the Eastern Security Network, ESN as he begins his tenure.

He urged IPOB and ESN to work hand-in-hand with his administration to end insecurity plaguing the state.

He questioned the motives of secessionist agitations and wondered if it was time to revisit the purpose of IPOB and ESN.
