Rotimi Amaechi, Nigeria’s Minister of Transportation, now has increased security as part of the battle for the country’s presidency in 2023.

According to sources, President Muhammadu Buhari is open to the former Rivers Governor succeeding him.

“If Amaechi wishes to run for office, the President will not object.” In the meantime, he is expected to run with (Governor) El-Rufai.

“I can also confirm that security around the minister has been increased by twofold.” “Without Mr. President’s approval, this could not have happened,” one remarked.

Apart from increased security personnel, Amaechi also travels in a bulletproof Sport Utility Vehicle that he recently purchased (SUV).

In a January interview, Nigeria’s president refused to name his preferred candidate for the country’s top post.

“I wouldn’t (mention) because if I did, he might be eliminated.” Buhari said, “I’d best keep that a secret.”

Amaechi served as Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly from 1999 to 2007 and as Governor of Rivers from 2007 to 2015.

Supporters of the 56-year-old marched through the streets of Calabar, Cross River’s capital, last weekend.

They urged him to proclaim an intention to run in 2023, stressing that he is qualified, with posters and other promotional items.
