Goodluck Jonathan Reacts Over Kaduna-Abuja Train Attack By Bandits

Former Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan has joined the chorus of condemnation over the terrorist assault on a train between Kaduna and Abuja.

Bandits assaulted a Kaduna-bound train on Monday night, killing several people, injuring others, and kidnapping others.

In response to the news, Jonathan sent a series of messages on his Twitter account, urging security officials to step up their efforts and return the country to normality.

“I sympathize with the victims of Monday’s Abuja-Kaduna train attack, their families, and other Nigerians who have been impacted, in some way, by recent events in our nation, pushed by the brutal acts of bandits and terrorists,” he said.

“ My thoughts are with them even as I pray that all those abducted will be rescued and reunited with their families, soon.

“I call on the security and intelligence services to scale up their efforts and ensure that perpetrators of these dastardly crimes are served with justice, and restore normalcy to our land.”

He urged Nigerians not to succumb to fear and be vigilant as they go about their daily activities.

“I urge Nigerians to be vigilant, optimistic, and not to succumb to pessimism and fear,” Jonathan tweeted.
