2023: PDP Presidential Aspirants Meet In Rivers, Atiku Missing (See Details Of Meeting)

On Wednesday, April 6, members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) running for the president in the 2023 general elections gathered in Port Harcourt, the capital of Rivers State, according to Naija News.

Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers, hosted the presidential candidates in a closed-door meeting before of the PDP’s primaries.

However, former Vice-President Atiku Abubakar was noticeably absent from the meeting, when hopefuls expanded their debate on a consensus presidential candidate for the party ahead of the 2023 elections.

 

Bauchi Governor Senator Bala Mohammed, Sokoto Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, former Senate President Senator Bukola Saraki, and former Managing Director of FSB International Dr Mohammed Hayatu-Deen were among those present at the meeting, which took place in Government House in Port Harcourt, according to reports.

Governor Wike stated immediately after the meeting that the hopefuls were interested in boosting the party’s unity ahead of the primaries and next general elections.

The Governor showed an interest in devising a formidable strategy that would allow the PDP to easily win the presidential election in 2023.

He said: “Our interest is the unity of the party. Our interest is to make Nigerians happy by making sure that by 2023, PDP takes over the reins of government because Nigerians are patiently waiting. And I can assure you that we are going to work as a team to make Nigerians happy.”

 

On his part, the leader of the delegation, Bukola Saraki said their discussion was on identifying the best available way in ensuring that there was no rancour within the party and among the various presidential aspirants.

He stressed that Nigerians were looking up to the PDP as the only option that would provide the needed direction for the country.

Saraki said: “We are here to have a discussion and we just finished talking about the how best way for us to reunite our party, bring unity among all those who are aspiring to lead this country under PDP.
