COSEYL, the Coalition of South East Youth Leaders, claims it is preparing a list of governors in the area who have embezzled public funds, and that they will not be permitted to run for office in the upcoming election.

Goodluck Ibem, the coalition’s President-General, expressed regret about the alleged high degree of corruption among several governors in the area, saying that “sharp practices of some of these governors have dragged their states backward economically and otherwise” in a statement.

The coalition urged all individuals in the region to work together to ensure that no corrupt person holds a government post in 2023.

“We are investigating our governors and any of them found wanting will not be elected or permitted to hold any other political office in the coming election. Ndigbo cannot afford to make another mistake of presenting corrupt persons for any political office again in 2023.

“We call on our people to rise up and defend our common wealth from being embezzled and taken away by those we elected to protect our interests. The time to act is now”.
