Anambra: Unknown Gunmen Attack Police Station, Four Police Officers Killed

Gunmen stormed a police station in Atani, the capital of Anambra State’s Ogbaru Local Government Area, on Wednesday morning.

According to Newsmen, the men came in the neighborhood about 1:30 a.m. on Wednesday and promptly attacked the police station.

According to the source, four police officers were killed in the incident, including a female officer.

For quite some time, there have been a series of assaults on police and other government institutions in Anambra State, with Governor Prof Chukwuma Soludo promising that those guilty would not be allowed to continue their actions.

Meanwhile, the State Police Command has confirmed the attack, corroborating the information provided by our source.

DSP Toochukwu Ikenga, the spokesperson of the State Police Command told Newsmen in a telephone conversation that the attack was true.

“The hoodlums came around 1 a.m., and unlucky for us, four police operatives paid the supreme price.

“The Commissioner of Police, CP Echeng Echeng on hearing of the attack immediately mobilized men of the command from various units to the area.

“The hoodlums were still there when the CP personally led men of the command to the affected area, and the timely arrival saved the day and the hoodlums were successfully repelled, and the facility was saved.

“We have commenced intelligence already, and we hope to unravel the persons behind the attack,” Ikenga said.
