LATEST: Police Officer Caught Smoking Weed Finally Arrested, Identity Revealed

An officer of the Nigerian Police Force was detained after being captured on video consuming marijuana.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, a photo of a police officer smoking pot in public in the Ijora region of Lagos State went viral on social media.

Nigerians reacted angrily to the photograph, expressing their displeasure with the situation and demanding that action be made against the employees.

The name of the erring officer was given as ASP Babatunde Adebayo in a statement made by Lagos Police Command spokesperson DSP Benjamin Hundeyin on Tuesday evening, days after the photo surfaced on the internet.

According to reports, the cop is assigned to the state’s Shogunle Division.

Hundeyin stated that the state Commissioner of Police, CP Abiodun Alabi, has ordered that proper disciplinary proceedings be taken against him immediately.

He went on to say that the police chief has also advised officers and men in the Command to avoid any unprofessional or unethical behavior since any officer found guilty of these crimes will face harsh punishment.

Meanwhile, twenty-five individuals have reportedly been slain in Benue State villages by unidentified gunmen.

The culprits carried out the attack on Monday night about 8 p.m., according to Anaedoonline.ng.

They are claimed to have assaulted multiple villages in three Local Government Areas of the state at the same time, firing indiscriminately at civilians.

According to report, a resident of one of the affected villages had narrated that the gunmen invaded Guma, Logo and Tarka Local Government Areas of the state.

After the horror attack, the resident said about 15 corpses were recovered from the Tyotugh community in Tarka LGA while nine were recovered from Guma and one, a traditional ruler from Logo.
