The Lekki Concession Company (LCC) has declared that toll collection on the Lekki-Ikoyi connection bridge in Lagos State would be postponed.

Yomi Omomuwasan, the LCC’s Managing Director, announced the news in a statement on Friday.

He said that the company’s decision to postpone tolling was motivated by the necessity to continue engaging stakeholders in the topic.

The deferral, according to Omomuwasan, would allow more consumers to register for the electronic toll devices.

Anaedoonline.ng reports the toll collection was planned to resume on April 17 after it had been suspended in the wake of the shutdown of operations caused by the October 2020 #EndSARS protests.

The toll plaza was reopened on April 1, 2022, but stakeholders vehemently rejected the plan by the organization to commence tolling.

“As a responsible organization, we must take full cognizance of everyone within the axis. Therefore, we want to continue with the ongoing engagements with our stakeholders,” the LCC MD said.

“The preparatory operations to resume tolling on the Bridge have been smooth so far, and we are grateful to all the key stakeholders for their cooperation.
