The Nigerian sprinter surprised the crowd during the 2022 Tom Jones Memorial Classic by breaking Blessing Okagbare’s national record mark of 22.04 seconds in the 200 meters, which he had held since 2018.

At the age of 19, Favour Ofili is already doing remarkable things, as she came within 21.96 seconds of breaking Okagbare’s record.

She became the first athlete from a college to run 200 meters in under 22 seconds, in addition to breaking the national mark.

She’s not done yet; she’s also the first female athlete from Nigeria to break the 22-second barrier in the Women’s 200-meter dash.

Before this, Ofili was a silver medallist in the 400 meters at the 2019 African Games, as well as the 2019 African Youth Champion in the 200 and 400 meters.

Favour Ofili is definitely a name to watch out for in the Women’s 200 and 400 metres Championships.
