President Muhammadu Buhari has warned anyone planning to destabilize Nigeria to reconsider because his administration would not allow it.

President Muhammadu Buhari issued the severe warning on Tuesday in Abuja, when he met State Governors and Ministers for an iftar supper (breaking of the Ramadan fast).

Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, Nigeria’s Vice President, was also present at the event.

The President, on the other hand, made it clear that no one or group of individuals would be permitted to destabilize the country.

‘‘We have the land, we have the resources, and we have the people.

“But I do not know why people will allow themselves to be successfully subverted to destabilize their own country,” Buhari said as quoted in a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina.

Speaking on the forthcoming 2023 general elections, President Buhari assured that the polls will be free, fair and credible.

He said the introduction of technology into the electoral process and the use of Permanent Voters Card (PVCs) will make it impossible for anyone to illegally claim millions of votes again in the country.

The President added that Nigeria will also overcome the current security challenges.

‘‘We have a leader who is not distracted by momentary challenges but has continued to commit to the renewal of our nation and we, governors, ministers and heads of government agencies are equally dedicated to building a better Nigeria, on your watch,’’ he said.
