The National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Felix Morka, said the governing party advised itself on the price tags on its nomination forms.

The APC fixed the presidential nomination form at N100m, according to Anaedoonline.ng yesterday.

The APC announced on Wednesday that presidential nomination forms would cost N100 million, governorship forms would cost N50 million, Senate nomination forms would cost N20 million, House of Representatives nomination forms would cost N10 million, and State Houses of Assembly nomination forms would cost N2 million.

Many Nigerians were taken aback by the news, asking if the party was based in another nation and unaware of the country’s dire economic circumstances.

“What is the current scenario in the country?” the APC Spokesperson remarked in an interview with Channels Television when asked if the price tag was in keeping with the country’s current economic status. We still live in a nation where some individuals earn real income.”

“The party is not for the affluent,” he answered when asked if the party is for the wealthy. For example, I just informed you that any woman who wants to run for President does not have to pay the whole price. “As well as the youths.”

“The party advised the party,” he added when asked who advised the party on the price tags. The party believes… and decided that the value placed on them.

Speaking further, the ruling party’s mouthpiece explained, “Don’t forget that some of the most special groups of citizens were granted high considerations. Either delivering the nomination forms for free in the case of women and people living with disabilities.

“But youths who are within 25 to 50 also have the advantage of a 50 percent discount for all positions, even the office of the President. We receive that nomination form you talk about at 50%. So, they’ll pay the expression of interest, plus 50 percent of the N70m.”
