The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Nigeria’s biggest opposition party, has set its National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting on Wednesday, May 4, 2022.
The gathering will take place ahead of the party’s national convention in 2023, which is scheduled for May 28 and 29.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the PDP confirmed this in a statement signed by its National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, and made accessible to journalists on Saturday, April 23.

Anaedoonline.ng has learned that a 37-man committee chaired by Benue State Governor Samuel Ortom has already submitted a report to the party’s National Working Committee (NWC), which would be discussed during the party’s 96th NEC meeting.
According to Anyawu, the meeting would take place in the NEC Hall, PDP National Secretariat, Wadata Plaza, Abuja, at 2 p.m. on the specified day.
“All members of the National Executive Committee of our great party are invited to the 96th NEC meeting scheduled as follows: Date: Wednesday, May 4, 2022,” the statement noted.
Meanwhile, the Northern Elders Forum nominated former Senate President Bukola Saraki and Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed as the Peoples Democratic Party’s northern consensus presidential candidates on Friday (PDP).
According to Anaedoonline.ng, this was announced by NEF spokesperson Ango Abdullahi in Minna, the capital of Niger State.

Recall that Sokoto State Governor Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, Governor Bala Mohammed, Dr. Bukola Saraki, and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen crisscrossed the country in search of a consensus candidate ahead of the PDP presidential primaries.
Ango Abdullahi, speaking on Friday, claimed that the choice to choose Saraki and Bala was made after they scaled the selection criteria.
According to him, these criteria included candidates assessment, zonal assessment, and PDP previous experiences.
