LATEST: Former Nigerian Minister Graham Douglas Is Dead

A one-time Petroleum Resources Minister of Nigeria, Alaba Graham Douglas is deceased.

It was learnt that the former Minister died in the early hours of Monday at a hospital in Abuja, FCT.

Graham-Douglas was the Rivers State Commissioner for Youths, Sports, and Culture in 1986.

Graham-Douglas was named Minister of Social Development, Youths, and Sports by military president Ibrahim Babangida in 1989.

In 1992, Graham-Douglas became the head of the Southern Minorities Movement, one of the organizations that later combined to become the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In the PDP presidential primaries in 1998, he was defeated by former President Olusegun Obasanjo.

Graham-Douglas served as minister of Labour, Employment and Productivity under Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration.
