Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State has chastised his counterpart in Sokoto State, Waziri Aminu Tambuwal, for rejecting his (Mohammed’s) emergence as the Peoples Democratic Party’s Northern consensus candidate (PDP).

Following the instruction of former Military President Ibrahim Badamosi Babangida, the Northern Elders Forum (NEF) chose Bala Mohammed and former Senate President Bukola Saraki above Tambuwal and Mohammed Hayatu-Deen as candidates for the North.

Professor Ango Abdullahi, the Forum’s leader, revealed that the duo was chosen following a tough screening process and receiving the maximum number of votes.

The governor claimed that Ibrahim Babangida’s and NEF’s decision will not deter him from pursuing his goal of succeeding President Muhammadu Buhari.

The governor of Sokoto state accused Bukola Saraki of organizing the ostensible endorsement.

In an interview with Channels Television’s Politics Today on Sunday night, Bala Mohammed responded to Tambuwal’s fury by saying that if the Sokoto governor had emerged as the consensus candidate, he would be singing a different tune.

While thanking people who voted for him, Mohammed stated that Tambuwal was also a part of the process that created him and Saraki.

The governor of Bauchi stated that he is well-qualified to succeed Buhari, but he is prepared to stand aside if Saraki can persuade him that he (Saraki) is the superior candidate.

Meanwhile, Bala Mohammed has asked Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State to show humility as he battles for the ticket of the PDP.
