On Tuesday, Eze Ndubuisi Kenneth Oti (Chinyereugo1, Ezeudo1), Secretary General of Ohanaeze Ndigbo Mekong River Asia (South East Asia), declared that if Igbo president is secured, “leaders of separatist organizations will set aside their agitations and move on.”

The Igbo monarch asked Nigeria’s political elites to back an Igbo president in the 2023 presidential election, according to a statement acquired by Newsmen. This, he claims, will put an end to separatist movements like Nnamdi Kanu’s.

“Let’s give such group of persons a sense of belonging and they will reunite and can amend the broken bridges of unity across the country. With this, I believe that the leaders of the separatist groups will put aside their agitations and move on,” Oti said.

Nigeria has a long history of separatist movements. Kanu’s banned Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), supports the Republic of Biafra’s independence, and Yoruba Nation, a Southwest secessionist organization led by Sunday Adeyemo ‘Igboho’.
