Governing Council of Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University (COOU), Igbaraim, has approved the promotion of 13 readers in the university to the rank of full professors.
Anaedoonline.ng gathered that the decision was reached at the COOU 112th Governing Council meeting which was held yesterday, Wednesday, 27th April, 2022.
According to the Public Relation Officer of the University, Dr. Harrison Madubueze, the University Council approved the provision of 13 Staff to the ranks of Professor and 6 to the ranks of Reader.

The newly-promoted Professors include; – Dr. H.U Nwalieji of the Department of Agricultural Extention., Dr. J. I. Igwe of the Department of Anatomy., Dr. P. U. Egenti of the Department of Educational Foundations., Rev. Fr. Dr. S. Chukwujekwu of Philosophy Department., Dr. A. I. Nweke of the Department of Soil Science., Rev. Fr. Dr. S. I. Nnoruka of Philosophy Department.
Others include; Dr. P. I. Chukwu of Pure & Industrial Chemistry., Dr. M. O. Anyasor of the Department of Marketing., Dr. I. U. Ezebialu of Obstetrics/ Gynaecology., Dr. C. C. Onuchukwu of the Department of Industrial Physics., Dr. K. N. Ibemenuga of Biological Sciences., Dr. N. A. Okereke of Industrial Physics., and Rev. Sis. Dr. A. A. Obiora of Law Faculty.
Those promoted to the ranks of Reader include; Dr. C.C. Ojimba of Law Faculty., Dr. M. I. Anyakora of the Department of Estate Management., Dr. C. C. Munonye of the Department of Architecture., Dr. C. C. Nwachukwu of Community Medicine Department., Dr. S. U. Muogbo of the Department of Business Administration., and Dr. C. S. Oguejiofor of Business Education.

The Council among other things, approved and announced the substantive appointment of Mr. Chris Obi as the University Registrar. Until his appointment, Mr. Obi was in an Acting capacity as the University Registrar. His substantive appointment came after he successfully passed through all the processes leading to his official pronouncement by the Council.
The Chairman of the Council, Prof. Anthony Ikefuna while announcing the appointment notified that Mr. Obi became successful after scoring the highest figures in the screening conducted by the Council Committee on Appointment.
