Presidential Aspirants: PDP To Screen Atiku, Peter Obi, Saraki 14 Others Today

Today in Abuja, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) will test seventeen presidential Aspirants ahead of its primaries on May 28 and 29.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the major opposition party has named former Senate President David Mark as the chairman of a nine-member committee that would vet the candidates.

Celestine Omehia, Mike Ahamba (SAN), former Governor of Ondo State, Olusegun Mimiko, Edward Ashiekaa (SAN), and Hilda Makanto are also on the screening committee.

The presidential screening appeal panel will be overseen by the party’s National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu.

The main opposition party’s presidential campaign headquarters, Legacy House in Abuja, will host the screening procedure.

The aspirants are Atiku Abubakar (Adamawa), Aminu Waziri Tambuwal (Sokoto), Bukola Saraki (Kwara), and Anyim Pius Anyim (Ebonyi), Bala Mohammed (Bauchi), Nyesom Wike (Rivers) and Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom).

Others are Peter Obi (Anambra), Ayodele Fayose (Ekiti), Nwachukwu Anakwenze (Anambra), Dele Momodu (Edo), Mohammed Hayatu-Deen (Borno), Sam Ohuabunwa (Imo), Cosmos Ndukwe (Abia), Charles Ugwu (Enugu), Chikwendu Kalu (Abia) and Oliver Tareila Diana.

The PDP is seeking to regain power from the All Progressives Congress after losing out in the 2015 general elections.

The party would hope to present the best presidential candidate in its plan to secure the votes of Nigerians in the 2023 presidential election.
