Governor Hope Uzodinma of Imo has explained why he has not named politicians who are funding insecurity in the state.

The governor stated that his decision was made in order to avoid interfering with the investigation being conducted by state security services and to enable them to complete their work.

Uzodinma told reporters in Lagos on Sunday that he was convinced not to identify who was behind the violence and fatalities in the South-East state by leaders of security agencies.

He did vow, though, that after the inquiry was done, he would publish the identities of individuals responsible for the state’s vulnerability.

He said: “If you watch the last quarterly stakholders’ meeting held in Owerri where I was to name some of those suspected to be behind the insecurity in Imo State, in that meeting, I did say that the security agencies pleaded that because investigation is still going on, it will be too early for me to begin to name anybody.

“I explained that day that I will allow them to complete their job. The last time I contacted them, they asked for two more weeks. l do hope that in two weeks, the information will be ready and it will be made public to Nigerians.”

This comes after the assassination of a military couple and a brutal attack on police officers at a checkpoint in Agwa, in the state’s Oguta Local Government Area.
