Senator Chris Ngige, the Minister of Labour and Employment, has responded to President Muhammadu Buhari’s instruction that all ministers running for elected office in 2023 should quit.

President Buhari instructed cabinet members who have stated presidential ambitions to quit by Monday, May 16th, during a Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting on Wednesday.

Ngige responded by saying he is not in a rush to resign and that he needs to consult with President Muhammadu Buhari and his constituents before submitting any resignation letter.

Buhari, he claims, provided a window for those who needed clarifications on his statements to meet with him.

“I have no reaction for now because the President said if anyone wants clarifications, the person should meet him.

“So I have to consult him and consult my constituents, Anambra state because I am holding the office for the government and my constituents,” Vanguard quoted him as saying.
