Despite the campaign for Biafra, Ebonyi State Governor Dave Umahi has said that Igbos will remain in Nigeria.

NAN reports that Umahi talked to State House journalists at the Presidential Villa on Tuesday.

President Muhammadu Buhari came in town to praise him for his two-day business trip to Ebonyi on May 5 and 6.

The people, according to Umahi, are pleased with Nigeria’s leader and enjoy his presence.

He refuted the claim that Nigerians in the South-East had lost interest in the country.

Igbos, according to the governor, are opposed to any type of agitation or intentions to secede.

“I have always said that we are not totally in support of agitation to secede. We want to belong to the Nigerian nation.

“As the Chairman of the Southeast Governors Forum, I have publicly said it, I have defended it.

“I don’t care about the attacks and those who have taken to the politics of that matter in our place.”
