Joe Igbokwe, a Lagos State All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain, has warned the North against expecting President Muhammadu Buhari’s successor to emerge in 2023.
Igbokwe believes that the idea of a Northerner replacing Buhari in 2023 should be abandoned.
The demand for a Northerner to replace Buhari in 2023, according to Lagos State Governor Babajide Sanwo-Special Olu’s Adviser on Drainage and Water Resources, is “a joke.”

In a Facebook post, Igbokwe wrote: “Someone just called me to say that the North is thinking about producing the presidency again in 2023. I laughed until tears started coming out of my eyes. Perish the thought and consider it a joke.”
The APC has yet to zone its ticket for the presidential primary election.
President Muhammadu Buhari hails from the north, as does the party’s National Chairman, Abdullahi Adamu.
However, there is currently a push to expand the ticket to all six geopolitical zones of Nigeria, which appears to be gathering traction.
