Nyesom Wike, the governor of Rivers State and a presidential candidate in 2023, has said that some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) do not deserve to be on the party’s ticket.

He added, without naming names, that such individuals left the party in 2015 after it lost the presidential election, while others in the same group fought against the PDP to install President Muhammadu Buhari, the All Progressives Congress’s nominee (APC).

Wike is said to be referring to former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Senate President Bukola Saraki, both of whom are running for the PDP presidential ticket in 2023.

Speaking in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Wike told party delegates in the state that he has always remained with the party and urged them to give him their support.

“The issue is, who are those who made PDP to lose election in 2015 that today we are suffering? Today, we are in opposition and trying to take power back.

“But see what the country has been turned into. Who are those who told Nigerians that President Buhari is a saint, that President Buhari will salvage Nigeria. What is their sense of judgment. Who are those aspirants who abandoned PDP, betrayed PDP and went to support President Buhari?,” Wike stated.

The Rivers State Governor also lashed out at the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying the country has been plagued with insecurity under his watch while many Nigerians are getting killed on a daily basis.

He said: “Now we are suffering. People are dying everyday. From January to March in Kaduna, over 1000 people have been killed. So many people have been kidnapped.”

Wike, therefore, charged Nigerians on the need to exhibit extra caution in choosing their next leader come 2023.
