JUST IN: Tight Security As Kano Awaits Buhari At Nigeria Air Force Week Opening

President Muhammadu Buhari is set to arrive in Kano today, therefore security has been tightened up throughout the state.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the President is slated to inaugurate the Nigeria Air Force Week in the state capital city today.

A large presence of security services has been observed due to recent tensions in the state and instability in the Northern area.

On specific locations, such as the road leading to the Emir of Kano’s palace, heavily armed security officers have been deployed.

Hundreds of highly armed security personnel, including men from the Nigerian Police Force, the Department of State Services, and the Nigerian Army, were stationed at the Emir’s residence with their vehicles, including EOD trucks from the State House.

Journalists, on the other hand, were denied access to the presidential palace, where the president is due to visit before travelling to the Air Force Week event.

Last week, an explosion occurred in the Sabon Gari district of Kano state, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

At least nine people were killed in the tragedy, and many more were injured.

Though there were early disagreements on what caused the explosion, with people claiming a bomb assault and authorities claiming all evidence pointed to a gas/chemical explosion.

A car filled with Improvised Explosive Device (IED) ingredients, firearms, and ammo was discovered in the state two days after the blast, according to authorities.
