The Presidency has accused Goodluck Jonathan’s aides and those close to Aso Villa of spreading false news and images implying that President Muhammadu Buhari is endorsing Jonathan to replace him in 2023.
President Buhari, the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Adamu Abdullahi, and Alhaji Mamman Daura, according to sources, do not support Jonathan’s administration.
Sources questioned how Buhari, who just called the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) administration a failure, could now be endorsing the PDP’s leader as his successor.

“Former President Jonathan is clearly not in the picture at all,” a knowledgeable Presidency source told The Nation.
“The mentioning of his name has been invoking feelings of absurdity and ridicule in the Villa.”
According to Anaedoonline.ng, two northern governors and some close advisers to the president were implicated in a conspiracy to make Jonathan the governing party’s consensus candidate.

According to the source, “it’s the aides of the former president that are going to town to create such an impression.”
