Sagir Mai Iyali, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), who signed a petition requesting Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s exclusion from the contest for the APC presidential ticket, has announced support for Vice President Yemi Osinbajo’s candidacy.

He stated his support for Osinbajo to win the APC ticket while engaging with media in Kano State on Monday, according to Anaedoonline.ng.

Iyali stated that the Vice President has gained the leadership skills Nigeria requires based on his previous service to the country, particularly in the last seven years.

“We are confident of his ability and capacity to deliver. He is a personality of no mean repute and a high flying academic excellence. He has been in the leadership struggle for the past eight years serving in a very challenging capacity,” Iyali said.

“Every discerning Nigerian can attest to the fact that he is articulate, agile, up and doing.

“It is high time for every right thinking Nigerian to sift the grain from the chaff in voting credible politicians to power.

“We are in a very challenging situation in which we must strive to elect leaders with untainted credibility. We have no reason to elect mediocres to coveted positions of authority,” he added.

As previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng, Iyali asked the All Progressives Congress’ presidential screening committee to disqualify Bola Tinubu, the party’s national leader, from seeking the party’s presidential ticket in 2023 due to alleged certificate forgery in a petition written on the 17th of May, 2022, and submitted on Monday, May 30.

Tinubu never graduated from the University of Chicago, according to Iyali’s appeal to the head of the presidential screening committee, John Odigie-Oyegun.

He went on to say that the former governor of Lagos State lied about his age and where he was from.
