2023: Abiola’s Son, Kola Wins PRP Presidential Primary

Kola Abiola, the eldest son of the late Chief MKO Abiola, has beaten other candidates to become the Peoples’ Redemption Party’s presidential candidate for 2023. (PRP).

Kola Abiola, according to Anaedoonline.ng, received 2,097 votes from 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) to win the election.

Usman Bugaje, Patience Key, and Col. Gboluga Mosugu were among the other candidates that competed in the PRP primary (rtd).

Bugaje came in second with 813 votes, Key got 329 votes, and Mosugu received 263 votes, according to Newsmen’s findings.

A total of 3,625 delegates were credentialed for the primaries, with 3,519 legitimate votes and 141 invalid votes. The results were compiled under the supervision of INEC.

Speaking before the collation of the results, PRP National Chairman, Falalu Bello, said the delegates from the 36 states and the FCT voted for the aspirants from their respective states.

He disclosed that the method was adopted with the permission of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to save cost.

“We want to make the whole process nearer to the delegates. The delegates are in the states. So that is why we decided that the primary election will take place in the 36 states and the FCT.”

“Definitely, having it in the states, rather than bringing them here, is more convenient for them.

“We set up 37 committees headed by the nominees from the national executive committee in the states along with the state organising secretaries to conduct this exercise in the states,” he said.
