The African Democratic Congress’s presidential ticket for 2023 has been won by Dumebi Kachikwu (ADC).

Kinsley Moghalu, a former Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), was beaten by the creator of Roots Television.

Moghalu, who joined the ADC in October 2021, ran for president of the Young Progressives Party (YPP) in 2019.

Ibe Kachikwu, the former Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, has a younger brother named Dumebi.

After 977 votes, he was proclaimed the winner; Moghalu received 589 votes, and Chukwuka Monye received 339 votes.

In the presidential primary in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, eight other candidates competed.

The defeat of Moghalu is being discussed on social media. The aspirant is yet to react as of press time.

In his reaction, Monye tweeted: “ADC primaries is done. I appreciate Prof. Moghalu and other credible aspirants for a spirited fight even though we didn’t make it.

“The fight to rescue this country from the brink of disaster is still on. Monye is committed to this. Will communicate who we will support.”
