According to Nigerian Tribune sources, Atiku has offered the governor of Rivers state the role of vice president.
According to the source, Atiku planned to unveil Wike as his running partner on Wednesday, but certain governors were opposed to the notion.

Three governors, Samuel Ortom of Benue, Seyi Makinde of Oyo, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi of Enugu, allegedly paid Atiku a visit in Abuja on Wednesday and briefed him on the efforts to rally other governors to Wike’s side.
In a tweet, the former vice president also verified the governor’s visit.
The tweet read: “Governors Nyesom Wike, @seyiamakinde, Samuel Ortom, and Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi came calling on a courtesy visit before my meeting with the @OfficialPDPNig Governors Forum.
“Slowly but surely, the seeds of unity are being planted in our party.”
Although Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta is believed to be interested in the position, many of the governors are behind Wike because of “the goodwill he can bring.”
