There was a pandemonium on Saturday morning in Benin, Edo State, when roughly a hundred enraged youths, mostly traders at the New Benin Market, went on the rampage after an Igbo trader was macheted by a northern dealer.
The argument allegedly began following a minor disagreement between the two vendors. The Hausa trader was said to have been ordered to leave the front of his store by the Igbo trader. The Hausa trader, feeling betrayed, took his machete and hacked the Igbo dealer multiple times.

A viral video circulating on social media shows enraged teenagers yelling obscenities as they pounced on the alleged killer.
As of the time of filling in this report, a combined team of armed security personnel made up of military and police had taken over the troubled commercial area.
