In the 2023 general elections, the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN) has rejected a proposed Muslim/Muslim presidential ticket.

PFN also warned major political parties in the nation against running a presidential ticket in 2023 that is either Christian or Muslim.

Bola Tinubu and Atiku Abubakar are the presidential candidates of the two major political parties, the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), respectively. They are both Muslims.

The Muslim-Muslim ticket proposal, on the other hand, has elicited a flood of responses on and off social media, with individuals concerned that it would be an unjust move given the country’s religious position.

PFN National Vice President, Prophet Isa El-Buba, told reporters in Jos over the weekend that any political party presenting a Muslim-Muslim presidential ticket would be a futile exercise.

He claimed that, aside from being dead on arrival, such a presidential ticket would help to exacerbate the country’s present religious tensions.

Buba said on the occasion of the funeral of Rev. Nathaniel Odekunle, the Pioneer Chairman of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria, Bauchi State Chapter.

Meanwhile, the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has advised major political parties in Nigeria not to run Christian/Christian or Muslim/Muslim presidential candidates in 2023.

Joseph Bade Daramola, the Christian association’s National Secretary, announced this on Friday in a statement. Moves to field candidates of the same faith as a danger to Nigeria’s delicate peace and unity, according to CAN.
