EEDC Announces Grid Collapse As South East Nigerian Is Thrown Into Darkness

The power infrastructure delivering energy to South-East Nigeria crashed on Sunday, putting the whole area in darkness, EEDC reveals.

On Sunday, the Enugu Electricity Distribution Company (EEDC) declared that the grid had failed, impacting all of the South-East states. According to the EEDC, the collapse happened at 6:49 p.m. on Sunday.

Mr Emeka Ezeh, EEDC’s Head of Corporate Communications, revealed this in a statement.

He said, “As a result of this development, all our outgoing feeders are out.

“This has affected supply to our customers in Abia, Anambra, Ebonyi, Enugu, and Imo States (entire South-East states).”

“We are on standby, awaiting further information on the restoration of supply from the National Control Centre (NCC),” he added.
