June 13: Democracy Day Celebration Commences At Eagle Square

The 2022 Democracy Day celebrations have begun in Eagle Square in the Federal Capital Territory.

With the marching of Commander Guards Brigade general salutes, the celebration events came to a close.

The Guard Commander assumed his post and saluted at 9 a.m., according to Anaedoonline.ng.

The arrival of Nigeria’s most powerful citizen, President Muhammadu Buhari, Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, and Speaker of the House of Representatives Femi Gbajabiamila will be followed by the salute.

Others expected at the event include former presidents and vice presidents, Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Ibrahim Tanko Muhammad; Secretary to Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha; ministers and members of the National Assembly.

Also expected at the celebration of this year’s Democracy Day are permanent secretaries and heads of federal ministries and parastatals.

Some of the dignitaries already seated at the time of filing the report are service chiefs and the Inspector-General of Police, Alkali Usman; the National Security Adviser, Maj.-Gen. Babagana Monguno (retd.), and former Minister of Foreign Affairs of Nigeria, Amb. Babagana Kingibe.
