The nomination of seven people for screening and approval as ministers by the Senate drew mixed reactions.
Prior to the All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election, President Muhammadu Buhari issued a directive to all appointees contesting the presidential race to resign.
Some ministers, such as Rotimi Amaechi, Godswill Akpabio, Ogbonnaya Onu, Tayo Alasoadura, and others, withdrew from the presidential campaign, while others, such as Rotimi Amaechi, Godswill Akpabio, Ogbonnaya Onu, Tayo Alasoadura, and others, resigned from their jobs.
Buhari said the nominations will replace the former ministers who resigned from his cabinet in a letter written to Senate President Ahmad Lawan on Tuesday.
The nominees include Umana Okon Umana (Akwa Ibom), Henry Ikechukwu Iko (Abia), Egwumakama Joseph Nkama (Ebonyi), Odum Odih (Rivers), Ademola Adegoroye (Ondo), Umar Ibrahim El-Yakub (Kano State) and Goodluck Nnana Opiah (Imo).
Following the development, some netizens took to Twitter to express their reactions to the nomination of the seven persons as ministers.
