Godwin Obaseki, the governor of Edo State, has highlighted concerns about the influence of the ‘Obidient’ movement on the governing All Progressives Congress and Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential election chances in 2023.

The ‘Obidient’ movement refers to followers of Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi.

In a video released by the AIT that has since gone viral, Obaseki stated that the APC and PDP are no longer popular among Nigerian youngsters.

“The future of our politics is changing. If you have been watching the level of disenchantment with the existing political parties.

“I’m sure in all our homes, we have people who call themselves ‘Obidients’. Ask them which party you belong to, they say ‘Obidient’ They don’t want us.

“They’re not talking about APC or PDP. They’re looking for alternatives.”

Also, Victor Umeh, the former National Chairman of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, has warned that the mass movement behind the Labour Party’s presidential bid is giving the APC and PDP “sleepless nights” and a “severe fright.”

“The support of Nigerians for former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party Presidential candidate, Mr Peter Obi, is giving members of the All Progressives Congress, the Peoples Democratic Party, and other parties sleepless nights and serious scares ahead of the 2023 elections,” Umeh told journalists in Anambra.

“The APC, PDP and other political parties are afraid of Peter Obi because of his resolve to banish poverty and ability to manage resources.”
