According to reports, the Vice President is under increasing pressure to defect from the All Progressives Congress (APC) and join the New Nigeria Peoples Party from Professor Yemi Osinbajo’s camp (NNPP).

Recall that Osinbajo finished third in the APC’s presidential primary poll, losing the nomination to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, his godfather in politics.

Osinbajo is reportedly being actively recruited to run for president in 2023, according to sources quoted in the paper.

Close advisors to the Vice President, however, claimed that rumors of a transfer to the NNPP are unfounded.

Anaedoonline.ng reports that Kwankwaso, the presidential candidate of NNPP, is in talks with the presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, over a political alliance.

“One of the factors driving the push for an Osinbajo/Kwankwaso ticket is the need to give vent to what is clearly a nationwide yearning for a different kind of political leadership, something that the VP has come to represent to Nigerians,” one of the sources told Newsmen.

“On the other hand, Kwankwaso is known to be an accomplished grassroots politician in the North-West who can easily complement the VP.”
