The Zamfara State Government ordered eligible residents to arm themselves against bandit terrorists, but the Federal Government has not complied.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Zamfara government urged the Commissioner of Police to provide weapons licenses to individuals who qualified in a statement through Ibrahim Magaji Dosara, Commissioner for Information.
The administration said that it has decided to take additional steps to address the recent rise in attacks, kidnappings, and criminal levies against defenseless populations.
It stated that the state’s citizens and authorities have expressed anxiety and concern in the wake of this terrorist incident. It further stated that it was prepared to assist individuals, particularly farmers, in obtaining basic self-defense firearms.
The state commissioner of police has been instructed to grant permits to all those who qualify and are willing to get such guns to defend themselves, according to the government, which stated it has ordered people to get ready and prepare firearms to defend themselves against bandits.
For individuals eager to get firearms to defend themselves, the administration has already agreed to give 500 forms to each of the 19 Emirates in the state.
A committee has been established by the government, according to the statement, to guarantee that the measures are implemented correctly.
