Reverend Fathers Uboh Philemon of St. Joseph Retreat Center and Rev. Fr. Udom Peter of Uromi Catholic Church, both of Ugbokha, Esan South East LGA, Edo State, have been kidnapped by gunmen presumed to be kidnappers.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, the Catholic priest was kidnapped on Saturday while he was traveling back to his church following an event.

After attending the session, the priests were reportedly traveling from Benin, the capital of Edo State, to Ugboha when they were ambushed by gunmen on the Benin-Auchi route between Ekhor and Iruekpen axis.

According to reports, the gunmen led the Catholic priests into the nearby jungle.

The public relations officer for the Edo State Police Command, Chidi Nwabuzor, verified the event.

He told Newsmen that the divisional police officer in Ugboha had informed the police about the kidnapping of the two reverend fathers. Rev. Father Emos Holiness of St Dominic Catholic Church on Mission Road in Ugbokha later confirmed what he had said.

The police spokeswoman stated that Abutu Yaro, the commissioner of police, has sent out a team of police agents to start looking for the kidnappers and liberate the Reverend Fathers.
