Christian Eriksen, a 30-year-old Danish midfielder, is almost ready to sign a three-year contract with the Red Devils as a free agent, according to Italian football writer Fabrizio Romano in The Guardian.

It was reported that the former Tottenham player and the Manchester group had a verbal agreement. Eriksen’s choice was significantly influenced by Erik ten Hag, United’s new head coach.

The Dutch manager explained his project to the Dane in a private conversation. Both men have a connection with the Eredivisie side Ajax: Ten Hag as coach from 2017-2022, Eriksen as a player from 2010-2013.

Contracts are being prepared and medical tests booked in order to complete the signing this week. Eriksen’s signing is coming after United beat Olympique Lyonnais to sign former Feyenoord defender Tyrrell Malacia. United also hope to beat Arsenal to sign 24-year-old Argentine Lisandro Martínez from Ajax.

Christian Eriksen Returns For Tests After Cardiac Arrest
Eriksen will be joining United from Premier League team Brentford, with whom he has eleven appearances, in that time scoring one goal and registering four assists. He joined Brentford after Inter Milan released him in December, following his cardiac arrest suffered during the Euro 2020 game against Finland in June 2021. Seria A rules do not allow players to compete if they have an implantable cardioverter defibrillator. One was fitted in Eriksen after his cardiac arrest.
