Funke Akindele, a Nollywood actress and content creator, has emerged as the Lagos State deputy governor candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
The Jenifa Diary singer gained favor after her name was included in a list of five names for Abdulaziz Olajide Adediran, better known as Jandor, the party’s governorship candidate.
A little video clip that surfaced online caught several PDP members jubilating and praising Funke at the time.
Sources close to Dr. Abdul Azeez Olajide Adediran, the party’s candidate for governor in the state, and the party leadership in the state have confirmed the incident.

At an upcoming ceremony, the PDP’s running partner would be introduced.
Recall that the position’s shortlist consisted of five individuals.
They included Ms. Akindele, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, a former senatorial candidate for Lagos East, Yeye Shobajo, David Kolawole Vaughan, also known as DAKOVA, another governorship contender, and engineer Teslim Balogun.
