Over 50 Escaped Inmates Rearrested, Returned To Kuje Prison (Video)

The majority of the fifty or so prisoners who fled during the terrorist attack on Kuje Prison on Tuesday night have been found.

According to information obtained by Anaedoonline.ng, the escapees were recaptured by NCS officers on Wednesday and brought back to the prison.

This event comes hours after Bashir Magashi, the minister of defense, stated that many of the fugitive prisoners had been apprehended and returned to the prison.

According to Magashi, during the terror attack, nearly 600 convicts escaped and all of the Boko Haram prisoners within the institution were freed.

The minister claimed that about 10:00 pm, a large group of Boko Haram militants entered the jail complex.

He had said: “Very soon, we will give you the correct figure of the inmates that were taken, aside from that, we are trying to see what we can do to ensure that all escapees are returned.

“The prison is accommodating about 994 inmates, over 600 escaped and many have been recaptured and brought back to the prison.

“Maybe by the close of the day, more will have been captured and returned.

“I think everything is under control and the people who came to do this activity, from the records, we believe they belong to a particular group.

“Most likely, they are Boko Haram members because we have a sizeable number of Boko Haram suspects in detention, and presently we cannot locate any of them.”
