The All Progressives Congress (APC) has begun to lose support in Rivers State from some staunch Rotimi Amaechi allies and supporters.
A few months before the general elections in 2023, the occurrence has brought back unsettling indications that all may not be well with the APC in Rivers State.
According to Anaedoonline.ng, Amaechi’s supporters have left the APC during the past week, including Dawari George, Marvin Yobana, Nkemka Amadi, and Robinson Elechi.

Ibim Semenitari, his former Commissioner for Information and Communications, is the newest to follow the practice, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
This development occurs just after he urged his supporters to vote for the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2023 elections rather than to express their rage.
Speaking on July 2 in Port Harcourt, Amaechi encouraged his followers not to be deterred by the results of the APC presidential primaries but to put in all their effort to guarantee the party wins the election.
Anaedoonline.ng reports Amaechi finished second in the Abuja primary, losing to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, a former governor of Lagos State.
No matter how they may feel about the results of the primaries, Amaechi told the thousands of his fans who came to greet him and follow him to the APC state secretariat in Port Harcourt that the APC is the party they must support.

However, like others before her, Semenitari, a former interim managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), remained mum over their upcoming affiliation with a political party.
Semenitari in her resignation letter wrote: “I write to resign my membership of APC with effect from today.
“I appreciate the friendship, camaraderie and opportunities that this platform has provided me to serve my state, region and country even as I wish the party well.”
George, a former Amaechi commissioner for energy and natural resources, declared his resignation from the APC on Friday, July 8, 2022, as previously reported by Anaedoonline.ng.
His letter of resignation was addressed to the APC Ward 1 Chairman in Rivers State’s Asari-Toru local government.

The former Commissioner was one of the candidates for governor who lost out when the 19 party leaders chose Tonye Cole as the APC’s consensus choice for the governor of Rivers 2023 election, despite the fact that he provided no explanation for his decision.
In his own resignation letter, Yobana gave several reasons why he was leaving the party, including several party actions that went against his personal interests and political beliefs.
However, Amaechi had pledged to step in to resolve the All Progressives Congress (APC) situation in Rivers State.
Amaechi told reporters that he is returning to the state to settle the disputes among APC members, adding that whenever there is a change in leadership in the party, disputes are inevitable.
