The choice of Senator Kashim Shettima, a former governor of Borno State, as the All Progressives Congress (APC) vice presidential candidate has been challenged by prominent attorney Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa (SAN).
Adegoruwa responded in a statement on Sunday to the news that Shettima would be Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s running partner for the APC presidential nomination.
According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria, the Muslim-Muslim ticket serves as both a recruiting tool for ISWAP combatants and fuel for Boko Haram.

As an insult to the sensibilities of the electorate, he continued, the ticket is a cry for terrorism to flourish even more in the nation.
Adegboruwa, however, urged Nigerians to vote against the APC out of respect for their faith in the 2023 presidential election.
He said: “Nigerians, whether Muslims, Christians, Traditionalists, should reject APC with their votes come 2023 because a Muslim-Muslim ticket in present-day Nigeria is fuel for Boko Haram, the incentive for ISWAP and a call for terrorism to thrive more.
“Unless of course, those parading the ticket are themselves complicit. There is no better way to insult our sensibilities. I pray it is not true.”
APC victory in the general elections of 2023, according to Kano State Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, is assured by the choice of former Borno State Governor Kashim Shatimma as Bola Tinubu’s running mate.

Ganduje congratulated Senator Shetima on becoming the APC’s vice presidential nominee, despite being one of the candidates the Southern governors had proposed for the job.
In a statement sent by the commissioner for information, Malam Muhammad Garba, Ganduje characterized Shettima as extremely witty and ready for the vice presidential post.
He stated that because they have similar backgrounds, Shettima was instrumental in drawing attention to his qualifications, skills, and knowledge during the pre-presidential primary campaign.
