Yesterday, Bola Tinubu, the APC’s presidential candidate, introduced Kashim Shettima as his running mate.

After meeting President Muhammadu Buhari in Daura, Katsina State, Tinubu introduced Shettima.

He made his choice after Kabiru Masari, his replacement, resigned from the position.

Masari’s name had been submitted by Tinubu to the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, by the deadline for running mates.

Up until yesterday, when he announced his choice as his running companion, Tinubu had led some Nigerians to assume that Masari was his running mate.

However, Nigerians disapproved of the APC presidential candidate’s choice of a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

To the angst of many Nigerians, Deji Adeyanju, a socio-political commentator, explained out why Tinubu chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket.

Adeyanju asserted that Tinubu chose a Muslim-Muslim ticket since there was insufficient competent opposition in Nigeria.

Adeyanju referred to the opposition in Nigeria as ineffective and split in a series of tweets.

According to Adeyanju: “The reason they can dare such a brazen move of Muslim-Muslim ticket is because they know the opposition is useless and divided. And they will win if the opposition doesn’t heed my wise counsel.

“Tinubu and the APC are saying they don’t give a damn. The message of the Muslim-Muslim ticket is too loud. In fact, they are having a good laugh and with a divided opposition, they will laugh harder in February.”
