Among others, Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State is expected to be selected to the campaign council of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s (PDP) nominee for president.
Wike, Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal, former Senate President Bukola Saraki, and other presidential contenders will reportedly be on the council, according to Anaedoonline.ng.
The action, it is believed, was taken to ease party tensions caused by Atiku’s selection of Ifeanyi Okowa, the governor of Delta State, as his running mate in the 2023 presidential election.

All candidates who failed to advance in the PDP primaries as well as other party members will be incorporated into the team, Atiku’s spokesman, Paul Ibe, stated in a conversation with Newsmen.
Ibe also disclosed that plans are underway to appoint a Director General for the council.
He said: “Plans are underway to inaugurate the campaign council and appoint a director general. You have to understand that this is not just an Atiku thing. Everyone has to be involved. There are plans to integrate other individuals who lost out at the primaries.”
