2023: Magnus Abe Dumps APC, Blame Tinubu Set To Join Labour Party

Magnus Abe, a former congressman who represented the Rivers South-East senatorial constituency, left the APC to pursue his desire to become governor.

Days prior, Abe had vowed that he would not back the APC’s nominee for governor of Rivers State.

Abe added that he would run against the governing party in the elections in 2023.

The former congressman submitted his resignation from the party in a letter sent to APC National Chairman Abdullahi Adamu that was seen by newsmen.

He went on to say that Bola Tinubu, the APC presidential candidate, not engaging in negotiations with him to stay in the party, was a factor in his choice to leave the party.

In the upcoming days, Abe pledged to disclose his new political agenda.

The letter reads, “I wish to tender my resignation of membership of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

“My decision to quit is not unconnected with Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s seeming unwillingness to negotiate with me since he expects me to remain in the APC. Hence my resolve to seek an alternative platform to actualize my Gubernatorial Ambition in Rivers State.

“I feel it is time to move on with my Ambition, having served this country as a Lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly, SSG of Rivers State, and Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“Let me also use this moment to thank my teeming supporters, and some of those that defected from the APC, for standing by me in all these years, more importantly, *H.E Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“In the coming days, I shall tell Nigerians my next political decision.”

We’re told by a a source close to the former APC Chieftain that he has purchased the Labour Party governorship ticket and will run with the party come 2023.
