One of the “unknown” bishops who was spotted on Wednesday (today) during the introduction of Kashim Shettima, the APC’s vice presidential candidate, has admitted.

According to Anaedoonline.ng, there have been conflicting reactions to the alleged hiring of certain purported Christian priests by Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s campaign to celebrate the announcement of Kashim Shettima as his vice presidential candidate for the 2023 election.

Recall that Tinubu faced harsh condemnation from Nigerians, primarily Christians, after selecting the former governor of Borno state as his running partner.

In what appears to be an effort to give the impression that Tinubu has the support of Christians and the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), the APC reportedly recruited the unidentified bishops on Wednesday, according to reports. Their images and videos have gone viral.

One of the imposters, who identified himself to Peoples Gazette as Joseph Odaudu, claimed that Mr. Tinubu’s hirelings broke a mutual agreement to be paid N100,000 for the dubious job shortly after the scene that was seen on national television today.

He said: “They came to meet us at the car park behind Eagle Square and they promised to give me N100,000. They bought food for us and took us to another place where they gave us clothes to dress like Christian leaders and reverend fathers,” Mr Odaudu told Newsmen shortly after the event in Abuja on Wednesday.

“But after we finished they only gave me N40,000 and another person said they got only N30,000. I don’t know why they changed our agreement because they said they had N100,000 for us.

“I am a Christian and I am supporting Tinubu but I hate when people lie and fail to deliver on their promises,” the impostor said.

According to the media outlet, Mr. Tinubu’s campaign spokesman did not immediately respond to a request for comment regarding the extraordinary occurrence that took place today.

While earlier responding to the occurrence, the Catholic Church called individuals who attended the event at the Shehu Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja “impostors,” informing journalists that the church had no presence there.

When questioned about whether he was aware that it was unlawful to pose as a Catholic bishop, Mr. Odaudu asserted he had broken no laws.

“No law was broken we only tried to show Nigerians that Christians are solidly behind Asiwaju Tinubu,” he said.
