The Indigenous People of Biafra, or IPOB, was neutralized during a gunfight by a patrol unit assigned to the Illah Division, according to the Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Ari Muhammed Ali, on Monday. Two other IPOB members were wounded but managed to flee the scene.
He added that “one AK-47 weapon with breech no 2534896 and six rounds of 7.62mm ammo” were also found by the police.
According to CP Ali, the patrol team was performing a stop-and-search at the Ogbada quarters on the Illah-Akwukwu-Igbo road when three armed individuals who were allegedly IPOB members attacked the squad.
According to him, “The team engaged them in a fierce gun duel during which one of the hoodlums was neutralized while the other members of the gang escaped with gunshot injuries.
“Manhunt for the fleeing members of the gang is ongoing.”
