According to seasoned Nigerian musician Charles Oputa, often known as Charly Boy, the “Obident” movement is larger than Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP).
In an exclusive interview with Newsmen, Charly Boy responded to assertions that the former governor of Anambra State is viewed as a messiah or God’s gift to Nigerians by saying the movement is bigger than many things.
Area Father asserts that the movement transcends differences in tribe and religion and that it is driven by Nigerians’ growing dissatisfaction with the nation’s current state of affairs.
He said: “This thing is greater than Peter Obi, it just happened that Peter was at the junction when the tsunami started to happen. Obi may be the face of it but it’s bigger than him, It’s bigger than tribe, religion. It’s the fact that Nigerians are tired, saying enough is enough and we can’t continue like this.
“This is all bullshit, yes, if our mumu no do now when e go do, I never tell una say APC and PDP na the same harlot mama born both of them? How can you make progress if you continue to wallow in the face of desperation and frustration and incompetency? I think that what is happening is way bigger than Peter Obi, Nigerians want a clean break from the past. That is the phenomenon that you see.”
The renowned musician said he is less bothered about Reno Omokri and Deji Adeyanju since they are political activists and know what they are doing when they criticize the LP presidential flagbearer on a regular basis.
He said: “Na them get their mouth, they can be talking anything, people when know them, they know what they stand for, they know why they do what they do, so which one concerns me, so, they no even reach my son, so wetting I day comment on that.”
