Babangida Aliyu, the former governor of Niger State, has been tasked with concentrating on how to win over voters in his home state for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) before making up promises to Atiku Abubakar about winning the president in 2023.

The warning was issued on Wednesday by a group known as the Northern Youths Movement (NYM), according to a statement its Chairman, Mallam Ishaya Jato, signed in Abuja.

Going back in time, the group said that Aliyu lost Niger State in past presidential elections when he was still serving as governor, so he has no moral authority to guarantee electoral success to a different candidate now that he is even out of office.

It also urged Atiku to start arguing for himself as the best candidate to govern Nigeria in the next elections.

However, NYM has now claimed that Atiku has been acting as though he has already won the 2023 presidential race as a result of such arrogant claims and pledges.

The committee recommended that Babangida Aliyu work to win Niger State for his party, the PDP, for the first election since 2011, rather than relying on votes from Rivers State and other South-South States.
